The old layout ,I found way too boring,so when the new layout was used I was happy to see better racing.

😪So very sad! I was born in the sixties and when I was old enough to understand what I was watching, Hockenheim became my favorite racetrack! I deeply miss the layout of the late seventies early eighties Hockenheim!

Keeping the old track intact and not building a new one would have been better option even if that had meant the track being dropped from the F1 calendar (which has happened now anyway)

Hohe UA-cam Gemeinde, in der Tat blutet mir bei diesen Bildern das Herz und als wahrer Formel 1 Fan habe ich da auch Tränen in den Augen! Egal welchen Formel Eins Piloten du damals 2001 gefragt hast, alle haben sie dir unisono gesagt wie viel Bock es für sie machte durch den Wald zu heizen und am Motodrome wieder bei den Fans rauszukommen! Bis ein paar "ganz schlaue und hochgebildete Menschen" beschlossen haben ihn so zu verschandeln, wie er Heute ist. Der heutige Hockenheimring ist für mich eine Schande und Mahnung zugleich einem gewissen Schlag Menschen keinerlei Befugnisse zu gestatten! Das Ergebnis sehen wir jetzt! I’ve been to the Hockenheimring. Will always hold a special place to me, being that it was my first live Grand Prix and the fact it was such an incredible race (2019). But not just because I was there, but purely because that race was crazy, and anyone who watched that race would know. The old Hockenheimring sure did look impressive, but it’s not all that bad today. The old Hockenheimring probably was better. I never saw a race there so I can’t comment, but the new version isn’t bad at all. If I’m honest, it is better than the Nürburgring’s Grand Prix layout. Of course, I respect and appreciate the Nordschleife for what it is though. A shame F1 can’t race there anymore. In my eyes though, Hockenheim is the German GP’s home.

THey didn't just stop racing at my favorite track, they ripped it out. I don't want to curse them to hell. Just want to punch them in the face real bloody hard.

From a security perspective I get it with (especially F1) cars getting faster and faster. And more chicanes probably also would have destroyed the character of the course... But why the heck not just simply keeping the old parts for slower racing series, tests, private use etc. ? Really sad and frustrating...

Bernie Eclestone é um velho gagá idiota, esse circuito já foi o mais bonito da história, agora tá tudo acabado,se eu tivesse dinheiro eu compraria esse autódromo e transformaria naquele autódromo encantador de novo.

Yo lo que haría es meter presos tanto al que hizo esto en el circuito de hockenhiem como en Austria e Interlagos verdaderos sacrilegios a la historia de la F-1 ,una verdadera pena por esto y muchas otras cosas no sigo las carreras como antes.

What a waste of a classic track, used to love the old circuit, new one is horrible, remember the terrible accident that Didier Pironi had when he ran into the back of Alain Prost, but aside from that the circuit was one of the best.

The old circuit didn't have chicanes.

I honestly don’t think it was that great of a circuit. It’s just three long straights followed by three chicanes. The best corner the one where they enter into the stadium section is still there. With all that said it’s still far more interesting than the new boring circuit which is just another cookie cutter track. At least the old circuit provided a different challenge to the engineers and drivers.

The Ostkurve which shows it with a chicane here with Schumacher racing was where Patrick Depailler died on August 1st 1980...it was a very fast long bend with no chicane. He wrapped his Alfa Romeo around the armco, you can see where the spot use to be at 35/36 seconds...
